I want to say something but ...

Okay folks, this is long overdue.

I've been curious about this blog thing since it first hit our PC screens but never really been part of it till now. I want to say something, share some ideas but just don't know what the heck to yak about.

What's in now? Michael Jackson found not guilty on on the charges against him? Brad and Angelina on or off (oh, by the way, I saw THE movie. Woo hoo, she's hot!)? Tom Cruise is a greasy dirty old man who can't restrain himself in public? Christian Bale is hot in the hot batsuit? Paris Hilton is engaged to another Paris?

Superficial? Not "deep" enough? But that's just how most of us are. Well, at least that's how I am. Instead of reading up more on serious stuff like poverty, hunger, injustice, human rights - you get my drift, I'm preoccupied with what celebrities do with their lives!

First thing I do whenever I'm online. I go to CNN.com and scan the headlines. Then I go straight to entertainment. Same thing when I go to MSN.com, yahoo, Reuters - you get my drift. Same thing with newspapers and magazines too.

Am I the only one guilty of this? Is this some form of escapism?

Well, I don't do this ALL the time, of course. There are times when I read about new archeological discoveries, updates on terrorism, earthquakes and tsunamis, miracle babies, parenting, breakthroughs in science and medicine, etc, but honestly, these are not all that common compared to celebrity gossip.

Is there a cure for this preoccupation? Or a better question - do I want a cure for this preoccupation?

Guess not. Life would be boring without it! So there.
